Nushagak Cooperative is seeking a motivated Intern Apprentice Telephone Technician to join our team and learn the essential skills needed to support telephone, broadband, and IP-based communication services. This entry-level role works under the guidance of experienced technicians and offers exposure to both fieldwork and central office operations.
Work may involve climbing ladders, operating in varied weather conditions, and traveling throughout our rural service area. The candidate must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, communicate clearly, maintain accurate records, and follow established procedures and specifications. This role emphasizes safety, attention to detail, and proper care of tools, vehicles, and equipment.
If you are detail-oriented, eager to learn, and able to work both independently and as part of a team, this internship provides a strong pathway toward becoming a full Apprentice Telephone Technician.

Utility Goundsman OR Laborer
SUMMER INTERN OPPORTUNITY
June 1, 2026 through August 15, 2026
Nushagak Cooperative seeks applicants for the position of Utility Groundsman OR Laborer. Minimum qualifications include a valid Alaska driver’s license, the ability to operate heavy equipment, and the ability to lift 100 lbs.
This individual will load and unload materials, stage and prepare equipment and supplies, and perform rigorous physical labor outside and in inclement weather. The selected candidate would work primarily with the Line Crew Supervisor and Line Crew but will also assist other departments, when available, to perform various tasks.

Utility Staking Technician
Nushagak Cooperative seeks applicants for the position of Utility Staking Technician. Minimum qualifications include: willing to obtain or be able to obtain an Alaska Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), the ability to use a computer, Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD. The ability to read, maintain and create cable plant and facilities documentation, including circuit drawings, maps and cable records.
Work will be performed inside environmentally controlled offices and outside in the field in potentially inclement weather. Work may include climbing poles, ladders and the use of a bucket truck. Must be willing to work flexible hours including scheduled on-call, weekends, holidays, before and after designated shift hours.
Salary range is $36.28/hr. - $46.05/hr. DOE. Power Plant Technician
Nushagak Cooperative is seeking a skilled Power Plant Technician to support the Power Plant Supervisor in ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations. This role serves as a lead for operators and mechanics, focusing on proactive maintenance, troubleshooting, and regulatory compliance.
The selected individuals' key responsibilities will include inspecting, maintaining, and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and control systems; coordinating preventive maintenance and major equipment overhauls; ensuring compliance with safety codes and environmental regulations; and training operators on safe and effective procedures.
Minimum qualifications include: 18 years of age or older; mechanical aptitude; ability to lift 50 lbs.; familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite. As well as clear and respectful communication skills, a commitment to teamwork and professionalism, and a valid Alaska driver’s license.
This employee must have the ability to work independently. Rotating shift work to include weekends and holidays is required. Must be willing to work overtime. Salary range is $41.35 – $51.15 DOE.

Electric Operations Manager
Nushagak Cooperative seeks applicants for the position of Electric Operations Manager. Minimum qualifications include: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field or a high school graduate with substantial postgraduate training and directly applicable experience in electrical utility systems, at least ten years of work experience, of which at least five years has been in a supervisory role directly applicable to the responsibilities of this position and this individual must have good communications skills, both verbal and written.
The selected candidate would assist the CEO/GM in all aspects of providing reliable, and safe electric service to Cooperative members. Responsibilities include: day-to-day administration of internal operations, being responsive to service requirements of all Nushagak Cooperative members by providing adequate and reliable electric, telephone and cable television services through efficient construction, operation, replacement, removal, and maintenance of utility plant in compliance with industry and regulatory standards, and monitors adherence to electric approved budgets and work plans. May serve as acting CEO/GM in absence of the CEO/GM.
Salary range is $56.94/hr. - $64.37/hr. DOE. Central Office Technician
Nushagak Cooperative seeks applicants for the position of Central Office Technician. Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma and/or GED, four years of experience with a relevant technical background, and telecommunication experience is necessary. Must have and maintain a valid Alaska driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. Metaswitch, Cisco, and Juniper certifications are preferred. This individual would be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of the telecommunications network.
